The Silicon Valley-based Venture Capital Firm Andreessen Horowitz has been exploring markets of emerging economies like India and has been open to exploring new regions. The Venture Capital firm has kept about $500 million amount to back Indian startups.
Andreessen Horowitz made its maiden debut in India last year, by investing in quite a number of startups and is further looking to get aggressive in the local market while providing funding to the world’s second-largest internet market.
The Venture Capital firm had raised around $9 Billion in January and is looking forward to investing in Indian startups that operate an opinion-sharing platform at a valuation of about $250 Mn. They are also looking forward to hiring people for investment roles in the country. According to a general partner who works at Andreessen Horowitz, investing in startups, especially in growing markets was extremely risky as well as tempting. This was because they were investing in something which they had no idea about due to the geographical remoteness.
The Venture Capital also led a funding round in the Bengaluru-based cryptocurrency exchange CoinSwitch Kuber last year and is looking forward to investing in more such startups in the coming year.
