Indian Haircare Brand Moxie Raises $15M Led By Bessemer Venture
- ByStartupStory | December 16, 2025
Moxie Beauty, a direct-to-consumer haircare brand focused on products for Indian hair types, has raised $15 million in a Series A funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. Existing investor Fireside Ventures and angel investors including Mokobara co-founders Navin Parwal and Sangeet Agarwal also participated in the round.
Funds for innovation and expansion
The capital will support product research and development, hiring across key functions, and scaling distribution channels. Moxie plans to deepen its presence on e-commerce platforms, quick commerce apps, and its direct website while piloting offline channels through salon partnerships and modern trade.
Co-founder Nikita Khanna highlighted the focus on high-performance formulations for Indian hair textures and climates, which often face challenges like frizz, dryness, and damage not adequately addressed by global brands.
Rapid growth in two years
Launched in 2023 by Nikita Khanna and Anmol Ahlawat, Moxie has crossed ₹100 crore in annual recurring revenue within two years. The portfolio spans 19 products across routines for curly/wavy hair, frizzy hair, damage repair, and anti-dandruff, plus styling options like wax sticks and dry shampoos.
No single product exceeds 20% of sales, and no channel dominates more than a third of revenue, showcasing a balanced growth strategy. Quick commerce has emerged as a high-growth area over the past six months.
Bessemer backs India-first beauty innovation
Anant Vidur Puri, partner at Bessemer, noted Moxie’s formulation depth and early brand pull as key differentiators in the under-innovated Indian haircare category. The investment aligns with Bessemer’s thesis on aspirational, India-first consumer brands.
Moxie competes with players like Fix My Curls, Pilgrim, Minimalist, and Honasa’s The Derma Co in clean beauty and haircare. Plans for offline experience stores and expanded content marketing aim to build deeper consumer education and loyalty.
The raise comes amid renewed investor interest in D2C beauty, where brands demonstrating product-market fit and scalable unit economics attract premium valuations. Moxie’s trajectory positions it as a frontrunner in redefining haircare for India’s diverse hair profiles and weather conditions.
