Indian game streaming and e-sports platform Rooter has recently raised a sum of $25 million in its Series A round of funding led by Lightbox, March Gaming and Duane Park Ventures. The round also saw participation from prominent investors such as 9Unicorns, Advantage, Capital A, Goal Ventures along with IeAD Sports & Health Tech Partners.
The company co-founder Piyush Kumar has specified that the startup will deploy the freshly infused capital in three significant areas of operation. The game streaming platform will utilize the funds for increasing its user growth, creating a robust content creator ecosystem as well as for constructing a marketplace.

“Gaming is the future of social media for the next generation. 92% of Gen Z and millennials play games. And these ‘gamers’ are more engaged, more invested and far more eager to contribute to gaming platforms than any traditional social media user today,” said Sid Talwar, partner at Lightbox.
Founded by Piyush Kumar and Dipesh Agarwal, Rooter is India’s leading game streaming and e-sports platform which has more than 8.5 million monthly active users on its platform. The startup extensively covers games such as Call of Duty and BGMI through its streamers and e-sports tournaments. The company claims to attract more than one million unique users to create gaming content over Rooter’s platform every month.
