Antitrust Regulator Competition Commission Of India May Expedite Amazon, Flipkart

India may expedite Amazon, Flipkart at a time, when the scrutiny of large tech companies like Facebook, WhatsApp, has increased  in accordance with the new IT rules. Last week, Karnataka High Court had dismissed a petition by Amazon India and Flipkart to quash CCI’s investigation into their business practices. CCI had ordered a probe against the two firms in last January saying it had ‘prima facie’ evidence to start an investigation.

The court has given the giant techs 30 days to appeal, and probably both Amazon and Flipkart will challenge the order. CCI however wants to talk to them in this matter “as quickly as possible” The allegations have warranted a “holistic investigation” of vertical agreements and their effect on competition.
