Sirona Hygiene has purchased Impower, a women’s safety brand, in an all-cash arrangement. The acquisition’s financial details were not disclosed by the firm. With the purchase, Sirona, a fem-tech firm that sells feminine hygiene products, will expand into the female safety area.
Mohit Bajaj believes that judicious acquisitions and ramping up growth would help the firm reach Rs 500 crore in sales over the next three years.
Impower manufactures pepper spray and is one of the bestselling companies in the category on e-commerce marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart, founded by Akshay Dua and Tanisha Pant in 2018. Given how effective and accessible pepper spray is for self-defence in unfavourable conditions, the pepper spray industry in India has experienced substantial growth.
Women’s safety has been a serious problem in India, according to Impower. According to the National Commission for Women (NCW), in the first eight months of 2021, there was a 46 per cent increase in complaints regarding crimes against women compared to the same time last year.
Sirona manufactures period hygiene products, such as herbal pain relief patches, degradable sanitary pads, and menstrual cup kits, and was launched in 2014 by Deep and Mohit Bajaj. PeeBuddy, a stand-and-pee gadget for ladies, is also available.
For the past three years, Sirona has been profitable. In April 2021, the firm secured $3 million in a Series A round from NB Ventures and IAN Fund.
