Govt bans Drone Import to promote Indian Industry, exempts R&D, defence purpose

The government on Wednesday prohibited import of unfamiliar robots with specific exemptions as a feature of endeavors to advance homegrown assembling of robots in the country. Import of robots for R&D, protection and security purposes have been excluded from the boycott however such imports will expect due clearances. “Import of robot parts, be that as it may, will not need any endorsements,” the civil aviation ministry said in a delivery on Wednesday.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the business and industry service has given a warning restricting the import of unfamiliar robots. “Import strategy for drones in CBU (Completely Built Up)/CKD (Completely Knocked Down)/SKD (Semi Knocked Down ) structure… is restricted with special cases accommodated R and D, protection and security purposes,” DGFT said.

Import of robots by government elements, instructive organizations perceived by focal or state government, government perceived R&D substances and robot makers for R&D reason will be permitted in CBU, SKD or CKD structure. This will be liable to import authorisation gave by DGFT in meeting with line services concerned.
