Google and Cisco WebEx Partnership, set to Make Videoconferences Easier
- ByStartupStory | September 9, 2021
Google Meet and Cisco WebEx, Videoconferencing rivals hope to make the process of logging in a little easier by teaming up together to offer interoperability for their respective conference room hardware and collaboration software tools.
Google, part of Alphabet Inc., has agreed to support interoperability with Cisco Systems Inc. hardware devices. This means you to be able to join Google Meet meetings from Cisco’s line of Webex hardware and vise versa, Google said Wednesday in a blog post. They’ve also made it possible to join meetings with a single touch work effortlessly across either platform.

This collaboration was essential because using multiple videoconferencing tools has become the accepted norm, corporate workforces are still dependent on virtual meetings and the Covid pandemic delaying a return to the office.
The companies were also able to fit in some of the native competencies of one platform into another, such as Webex Voice Assistant and Hey Google, which can be used while connecting to meetings on the other platform.
Though we really need hardware that can also integrate with Zoom and Microsoft Teams, this is a very important first step towards cross-platform interoperability.
According to Google, the company will next try to sign pacts with other major video conferencing providers to help users log in from more types of devices, as reported by, BNN Bloomberg.
