Fabless Chip Startup Sensesemi Secures INR 25 Cr Seed Funding

Fabless semiconductor startup Sensesemi Technologies has raised INR 25 crore (about USD 2.75 million) in a seed funding round led by Piper Serica.

The round also saw participation from LetsVenture Angel Fund, Sun Icon Ventures, MyAsiaVC, Whitepine Investments and Jain Oncor. Angel investors including REAN Foundation, Niraj Shah and Deepak Khanna also backed the company, according to a statement issued by Sensesemi.

The fresh capital will be deployed toward advancing product development, with a focus on chip tape outs and the creation of reference designs. The startup also plans to expand its engineering team and establish strategic partnerships with device manufacturers and original design manufacturers.

Founded in 2014 by Vijay Muktamath and Namit Varma, Bengaluru-based Sensesemi Technologies operates as a DLI approved fabless semiconductor company. It is focused on building integrated edge AI silicon targeted at industrial IoT, automotive and medical device applications. The startup designs ultra low power systems on chips that combine AI inferencing, wireless connectivity and precision analog signal processing on a single platform.

According to the startup, a core part of its strategy is owning critical chip design IP while developing next generation silicon solutions that enable real time intelligence at the edge. These solutions are intended to support long battery life and secure operation while remaining scalable for deployment in global markets. The approach addresses growing demand for high performance edge processing without dependence on cloud connectivity.

Sensesemi said it is also developing an analog AI inference processor designed to further reduce power consumption in battery operated and implantable devices. By performing AI inferencing in the analog domain, the startup aims to improve power efficiency and enable multi year battery life without compromising reliability or on device intelligence.

The startup’s integrated edge AI chips are designed for use across several sectors. Industrial IoT applications include predictive maintenance, vision based quality inspection and environmental monitoring. In automotive, the chips can support multi sensor ADAS systems, driver monitoring and predictive diagnostics. Medical use cases include cardiac monitoring, neurostimulation and smart drug delivery devices.

Sensesemi operates in a competitive landscape that includes players such as Netrasemi, Hrdwyr, Edgecortix and Blumind.
