Edtech startup: Leverage Edu raises about $22M in Series B round; Valuation jumps to around $120M

Leverage Edu, a Global study abroad platform announced that it raised about $22 million in its Series B round of financing.

A consortium of funds, family offices, and individual angels also participated in the round. These included Kaizenvest Private Equity, UAE-based NB Ventures, DSP Mutual Fund Group, Artha Ventures, 9Unicorns; plus returning funds Blume Ventures, DSG Consumer Partners, Tomorrow Capital. 

Chona Group (behind Havmor), Mankind Pharma, FMCG player Vicco, and other family offices joined the round. The round also saw participation from Trifecta Ventures and Bennett Coleman (Times Group).

Prominent individual investors like Hemant Gupta, Morgan Stanley MD; Farid Ahsan, ShareChat founder; Mark O’Donoghue, Hotcourses (sold to IDP) founder; Kunal Shah, CRED founder; Ashish Hemrajani, BookMyShow founder; Haresh Chawla, True North Partner; Peyush Bansal, Lenskart founder; Anshu Sharma, Skyflow’s; Pranabh Mody, Eragon Ventures MD; Henry Kane, Dynamic’s IT Director; Vikas Choudhary, Jio President; Ankur Warikoo, entrepreneur-author; and Ankit Tandon, OYO SEA CEO among others participated with individual cheques, alongside syndicates from LetsVenture, AngelList, and Trica Capital.

According to the press statement, the company has been valued by the financing round at about $120 million.

Leverage Edu was started by Akshay Chaturvedi in April 2017. Bringing onboard students from the emerging world to universities in the developed world is helped by Leverage Edu’s core business. With a suite of products built for the University ecosystem, it is being done. 

An outcome-focused technology-led counselling platform that gives them access to a one-stop dashboard for their entire study abroad journey has been built by Leverage Edu for students. Last month it also launched the “Study Abroad with LeverageEdu” app, which already has more than 50,000 downloads.
