Edtech platform Unacademy launches physical stores


Unacademy, an Edtech platform with the launch of experience stores across the country is now venturing into the hybrid-retail model. Unacademy, at present is looking to launch four stores, to understand its offerings and various subscription models which will act as an experience zone for students and parents. New users looking to take up Unacademy courses will be focused more by the stores. Existing Unacademy users can also come further and meet their teachers at these stores.

A counselling area for learners; for reading sources- an in-house library, as well as classrooms that will host its top educators, will also be hosted by the Unacademy stores. However, they will continue to focus on omnichannel retail and not on hybrid learning.

Its first experience store in New Delhi has already been opened up by Unacademy. It plans to open Over the next six weeks, three new stores in Kota, Jaipur and Lucknow, has also been planned to be opened.

The aggressive plan has recently been announced by Arch rival, Byju’s so as to double down on its offline play through the launch of ‘Byju’s Tuition Centre’. The company over the course of last year has launched 80 offline centres across 23 cities and is looking forward to scale that to 500 centres across 200 cities this year.

Munjal said that an initial public offering in the coming years, Unacademy has planned to file, and is currently focussed to turn its core test prep business profitable, over the next 12 months.
