Confidence seen by Zuckerberg-Backed Village Global in Indian Metaverse Startup Ikonz

Ikonz, an Indian metaverse startup, raised an undisclosed seed funding from early-stage VC firm Village Global and technology investment firm Woodstock.

In order to ramp up artistic talent from across the globe and hire top tech talents so as to build its metaverse and drop non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from its IP partners, the raised funds will be used by the company.

Microsoft, Bill Gates; Amazon, Jeff Bezos; Meta, Mark Zuckerberg; Google, Eric Schmidt; LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman; Disney, former CEO Bob Iger; Bloomberg, Mike Bloomberg and VMware, Diane Green, among others have backed Village Global.

Ikonz CEO Abinav Varma Kalidindi said in a statement that it’s heartening to see that a fund backed by the world’s top tech icons, who has over $400 bn as a cumulative net worth and whose companies’ market caps exceed $5.5 tn (Meta, Microsoft, Google and Amazon), has decided to fund us at an early stage.

Ikonz was founded by Abhinav Varma Kalidindi in August 2021. It aims to ramp up IP aggression and within the next 12-18 months bring together 50% of India’s premium entertainment IPs under a single banner.
