It is within this gap that Manya, a 26-year-old entrepreneur, chose to build. What stands out about her journey is not just the space she entered, but the clarity with which she approached it, focusing on solving a foundational problem rather than following a trend.

Founder Background

Manya’s journey into entrepreneurship began early. At the age of 22, after gaining nearly three years of business exposure working alongside her father, she stepped into building something of her own.

During the lockdown, she launched a home bakery, which became her first independent venture and provided her with hands-on experience in managing customers, operations, and the day-to-day challenges of running a business.

She pursued her BBA from OP Jindal Global University with a clear intention of entering the business space. Over time, this clarity evolved into a focused entrepreneurial path, shaped by practical learning and real-world exposure.

The Origin of ChargET

ChargET did not emerge as a theoretical concept but as a response to a real-world problem.

While travelling to her native place in Bihar in an electric vehicle, Manya observed that although charging stations were listed across routes, many of them were not functional.

This experience highlighted a critical gap within the EV ecosystem. The issue was not the availability of infrastructure, but the lack of reliability and maintenance.

Founded in 2022, ChargET was built to address this exact problem by ensuring that charging infrastructure is dependable, accessible, and efficient.

Building for Reliability, Not Just Availability

ChargET operates as a charge point operator offering end-to-end EV charging solutions, including installation, maintenance, and operational management.

The company’s core focus lies in ensuring service reliability through consistent support and operational efficiency. It provides round-the-clock servicing, maintains close to 99 percent uptime, and ensures replacement within 24 hours in case of technical issues.

In addition to physical infrastructure, ChargET integrates technology through its application, enabling users to locate charging stations, pre-book slots, make payments, and monitor charging sessions in real time.

This integrated approach ensures that the infrastructure not only exists but functions effectively when required.

Business Model and Market Strategy

ChargET follows a hybrid business model, operating across both B2B and B2C segments.

On the B2B side, the company collaborates with charging hubs, commercial establishments, and institutional partners, enabling consistent and recurring revenue streams.

On the B2C side, it focuses on setting up charging stations at public locations such as malls, hotels, and commercial spaces, allowing individual users to access charging facilities conveniently.

A key strategic decision has been the company’s focus on Eastern India, a region where EV adoption is still developing and infrastructure gaps are more pronounced. While this approach required significant effort in building awareness and trust, it also opened access to an underserved and high-potential market.

Growth and Market Validation

ChargET has demonstrated steady traction within a relatively short span of time.

The company has generated approximately ₹1.5 crore in revenue, installed more than 80 charging stations across Kolkata and Tripura, and built a user base of over 2000 individuals on its platform.

These milestones reflect both market acceptance and the effectiveness of its reliability-driven approach.

Funding and Current Position

At present, ChargET operates as a bootstrapped venture.

The company is part of ISB’s I-Venture Immersive incubation program, which provides access to mentorship, strategic guidance, and potential investor networks.

However, given the capital-intensive and technology-driven nature of EV infrastructure, investor sentiment remains cautious. As a result, the company is also exploring alternative financing options, including institutional funding and bank loans, while continuing to build sustainably.

Vision for Scalable Expansion

Looking ahead, ChargET is focused on expanding both its infrastructure footprint and geographic presence.

Over the next five years, the company aims to install more than 2000 charging stations across Eastern India while also entering high-demand markets such as Bangalore and Mumbai.

It is also working toward integrating solar-powered charging stations to enhance sustainability and reduce long-term operational costs.

Additionally, the company is placing strategic emphasis on the two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments, which represent a significant portion of India’s EV landscape and offer strong growth potential.

Key Achievements and Milestones

ChargET’s progress has been supported by several recognitions and milestones.

The company is currently incubated at ISB’s I-Venture Immersive program and has secured first place at the TiE Women Kolkata Chapter. It has also developed Kolkata’s largest 50-car EV charging hub and established installations across premium commercial and hospitality locations.

Further, the company is actively participating in government tenders across Eastern India, strengthening its position within the ecosystem.

Manya’s journey reflects a practical and disciplined approach to entrepreneurship. Rather than focusing on rapid expansion, she has prioritised solving a core problem and building systems that can scale sustainably.

Her experience highlights the importance of patience, adaptability, and a deep understanding of market realities when building in emerging sectors.

Her message to aspiring entrepreneurs is straightforward yet meaningful. She emphasises the importance of starting with clarity, giving the process time, and continuously engaging with people who can contribute to learning and growth.

According to her, entrepreneurship is less about immediate success and more about consistency and long-term commitment.

As India’s EV ecosystem continues to evolve, the need for reliable infrastructure will become increasingly critical.

ChargET’s focus on operational reliability, structured growth, and real-world applicability positions it as a relevant player in this transition.

By addressing foundational gaps rather than surface-level challenges, the company is contributing to a more dependable and scalable electric mobility ecosystem in India.
