Cardano Network Developers Increases Block Size by 10%

A recent upgrade on Cardano has witnessed the network’s block size increase by 10 percent, as per developers earlier this week.
Cardano development firm Input Output in a tweet said, “Before the weekend, an update proposal was made to increase Cardano mainnet block size by 8K, The current block size is 80KB, and after this change, it will be 88KB.”
Input Output said the 10 percent increase in block size network would help in increasing the data throughput and scalability. The performance of decentralized apps or services that rely on smart contracts, on Cardano is also expected to see some improvement. Input Output further added that it would monitor network performance and behavior closely over the next 5 days to determine the next required increase in block size.

The step comes ahead of the company’s eventual Basho upgrade, which would soon introduce sidechains on the network. Sidechains are separate blockchain network that connects to another blockchain – named a parent blockchain or mainnet – via a 2-way peg.
Meanwhile, the fundamental improvement did very little to buffer the price of Cardano’s ADA token amidst a increasingly declining sentiment in the broader crypto market. ADA fell 8.3 percent in the past 24 hours, one of the biggest losers among major tokens, as bitcoin lost support at USD 40,000 and slumped to the USD 38,000 level.
ADA traded around the $0.90 mark on Tuesday but later declined sharply to the $0.82 level on Wednesday morning before slightly recovering at press time.
