Byju’s appoints Vedhanarayanan Ganeshkumar to the position of tech vice-president

Vedhanarayanan Ganeshkumar has been named Vice President of Technology at Byju’s, as the edtech firm strives to enhance its technology platform in the face of increased competition in the edtech market across the country.
Ganeshkumar will play a significant role in accelerating critical technologies to further develop Byju’s technology and innovation capabilities, according to Byju’s, which is owned and run by Think & Learn Pvt Ltd. According to the company, Ganeshkumar will also build and scale a team of engineers, product managers, software developers, and others.
Ganeshkumar, who worked at Amazon for almost 15 years, had a wealth of experience in designing and maintaining highly available, low-latency distributed systems. At Amazon Development Center (India) Pvt Ltd, he was the Senior Manager of Last Mile Delivery Service Partner Technology. According to his LinkedIn profile, Ganeshkumar previously worked for Oracle as a Senior Applications Engineer in India.
Ganeshkumar’s appointment comes five months after the business hired Oyo’s Chief Technology Officer Goel as Byju’s President of Technology, which is preparing for an IPO. According to Byju’s, Ganeshkumar’s appointment is part of the company’s aim to improve learning products and accelerate unique and impactful learning experiences for students throughout the world.
Byju’s efforts to improve its technology come as its main competitor, Vedantu Innovations Pvt Ltd, is also beefing up its technology platform in an effort to stand out from the slew of edtech startups that have flooded the country’s 300 million K-12 (kindergarten to class 12) market. Vedantu announced the debut of an immersive learning platform last month.
