Blinkit Introduces 10-Minute Ambulance Service in Gurugram

In a significant move to bridge the gap in emergency medical services, Blinkit, one of India’s leading quick commerce platforms, has launched an ambulance service with a remarkable promise—a 10-minute response time.

Emergency response in India has long been a challenge, often drawing attention for its inefficiency. A scene from the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots highlights this starkly by juxtaposing the timely delivery of pizzas with the unpredictability of ambulance arrivals. Blinkit’s latest initiative aims to address this pressing concern.

The service officially began operations in Gurugram on January 2, 2025, with five ambulances on the road. Currently, users in the city can book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the Blinkit app. Albinder Dhindsa, the founder of Blinkit, announced this development on LinkedIn, stating, “This is not a profit-generating service. It is designed to be affordable and accessible. Our aim is to bridge the critical gap in emergency healthcare services.”

The ambulances are equipped with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each ambulance has a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a professional driver onboard to ensure high-quality and efficient care during emergencies.

Dhindsa further elaborated, “We have started the ambulance service in Gurugram today with five ambulances. Over the next two years, we aim to expand this to other major cities.”

Blinkit has consistently innovated in various categories over the years. In 2022, the company made headlines by introducing doorstep delivery of printouts. Since then, it has ventured into categories such as delivering iPhones, PlayStations, Atomberg fans, and Lenskart glasses.
