Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) is a Bengaluru-based research foundation that has recently secured the National Technology Business Incubator Award from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The bio-incubator established at C-CAMP has many incubatees. Bugworks, a startup that is incubated in healthcare is used to develop next-generation broad-spectrum antibiotics to fight antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The startup has however reached a clinical trial phase to control AMR using drug discovery. C-CAMP has incubated Sea6Energy in the environment sector to provide a space for sustainable development by using seaweed for producing bioactive plant health and has also launched its first product in the market as a natural as well as organic plant growth stimulant, following which they launched its second product as an organic plant immunity booster which strengthens plant’s defence mechanism to a broad-spectrum of viral diseases. These products are natural transformations to holistically enhance plant health and its yield.

It also incubates String Bio, in the field of agriculture having a clean technology domain that uses bacteria to convert methane into the edible single-cell protein to feed animals. Dr Taslimarif Saiyed, the CEO and director of C-CAMP said that this acknowledgement is a huge validation of the value added by the bio-incubator program of C-CAMP in India’s bio-innovation ecosystem. She also said that it looks after the cutting-edge research, entrepreneurship and advancements in life sciences to have a societal impact.
The bio-incubator was established with the support of Bionest, BIRAC, NITI Aayog-AIM, Ktech-government of Karnataka along with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. At present, it has 40 incubatees, and 10 non-resident incubatees all over India and the Globe and has also helped 25 graduated incubatees all along the years.
