Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), an angel investing business, with a stunning 190 percent internal rate of return (IRR) with 13 exits in 2021. In the current year, the startup funding platform aims to close over ten deals.

IPV has two funds, according to Ankur Mittal, co-founder and chief operating officer: a Category 1 angel fund of 500 crore, of which it has already closed 300 crore and invested 100 crore, and a Category 2 venture capital fund with a planned corpus of $50 million (around 380 crore) and a green-shoe option of $25 million (around 190 crore).

Mittal noted that the second fund has yet to be launched since it is awaiting clearance from the markets regulator Sebi, which it requested in October and hopes to receive soon. Mittal claims that his investment in payment platform Bharatpe in 2018 yielded the best return of 552 percent after he sold his whole ownership in the company to Coatue Management. He goes on to say that if all of the company’s investors had participated in all 13 agreements, the average return would have been four times their initial investment.

IPV invested a total of 215 crore in 51 startups in 2021, bringing the total investment to 356 crore across 110 startups. IPV has also sold shares in a few unicorns to large investors, including Coatue Management (Bharatpe, full), Kalaari Capital (Phable, partial exit, and Samosa Party full exit), Barings (Toch, partial), Emphasis Ventures (Card91, full), Zomato (Fisto, full), and Dream11 to Sostronk, which is a full exit.

IPV is a 6000+ member angel investment firm that assists new-age entrepreneurs by connecting them with a wide set of investors and providing them with monetary and experience capital. With combined funding from several members, a new investor can start with a small investment and still provide a strong value proposition for the firm. This makes it easier for startups to get finance as well as access to a network, advice, and mentorship.
