Amazon India, Flipkart Fine-Tune Product Listings for AI Chatbots
- ByStartupStory | November 18, 2025
Amazon India and Flipkart are actively optimizing their product listings to improve visibility on Large Language Model (LLM) chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, and Perplexity. This strategic move is designed to ensure their products appear higher in search rankings driven by natural language queries, as consumers increasingly turn to chatbot-driven shopping and product comparison tools.
Post Diwali sales, Amazon India piloted ChatGPT-focused search optimization for select categories. The company is experimenting with different listing formats and keywords to adapt to common prompt patterns typically used by conversational AI shoppers. Flipkart is in talks with specialist firms that offer generative engine optimization (GEO) services to refine how products are presented and discovered through AI platforms.
The industry shift gained momentum following the National Payments Corporation of India’s integration with ChatGPT, enabling users to search, compare, and pay via UPI within the chatbot interface. As a result, more e-commerce players are expected to follow suit and upgrade their product content for LLM search and eventual agentic commerce, where AI agents handle end-to-end shopping tasks for users.
Both Amazon and Flipkart confirmed ongoing work to personalize discovery and reformat product information, aiming to keep listings relevant and easy to find through AI-driven tools. Startups in LLM optimization and GEO technology are helping platforms scan thousands of data points to identify effective keywords and presentation styles for maximum chatbot visibility.
