AirOWater to launch into sustainability sphere after Dubai Expo 2020 showcase

Mumbai-based startup AirOWater has been making waves at the Dubai Expo 2020 with its showcase of water vending machines that turn humidity in the air into drinking water.

As per the company’s website, “AirOWater uses a one-of-a-kind, reliable and adaptable technology which creates water from the humidity in the air, giving you fresh, bacteria-free, pure drinking water. Moreover, this water is completely untouched by contaminants in the ground or any other surfaces, unlike piped water.” The startup uses its Atmospheric Water Generators that convert atmospheric moisture into drinkable water using a four-step filtration process.

CEO Rahul Mathur stated in an interview, “We have started getting enquiries after participating in the Arab Water Forum and now the Expo. We got inquiries from hydroponic and other farming operations as they don’t want to use sea water because it might spoil the plants – so, they’re looking at alternative solutions and that could be this water.”

The startup is currently functioning business-to-business and claims that it would require a great deal of scaling before being able to sell directly to consumers.
