Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has officially been taken over by the Adani Group.
AAI and the Ahmedabad-based Adani Group were represented at the brief event held at the airport on Thursday morning.
Adani Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd (ATIAL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd, will now operate, manage and develop the airport for a period of 50 years under the concession agreement signed with the AAI.
The Central Government and the AAI went ahead with the leasing of the airport to the Adani Group despite objections from the Kerala Government, which later moved the Court. The State Government petitioned the Supreme Court in November last year after the Kerala High Court dismissed its petition against the transfer. The Supreme Court is yet to rule on the matter.
