Deep-tech cybersecurity company QNu Labs raises Rs 200 Cr in Series A1 round

Deep-tech cybersecurity company QNu Labs has raised Rs 200 crore in a Series A1 funding round co-led by the National Quantum Mission (NQM) and Speciale Invest, with participation from Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital and Artha Ventures. The round takes QNu Labs’ total capital raised to Rs 375 crore.

The Bengaluru-based startup was incubated at IIT Madras. It previously raised Rs 60 crore ($7 million) in a Series A round led by the National Quantum Mission in April last year and$6.5 million in a pre-Series A1 round led by Ashish Kacholia of Lucky Investments in December 2023.

The fresh funds will be used to accelerate R&D, strengthen its technology capabilities, and scale sales and go-to-market operations across India and international markets, QNu Labs said in a press release.

Co-founded in 2016 by Srinivasa Rao Aluri and Sunil Gupta, QNu Labs offers quantum-safe infrastructure and platform solutions that enable clients to adopt quantum-safe security technologies without disrupting existing business operations.

QNu Labs plans to contribute to an approved project funded under the RDI programme to build the technology backbone for India’s Quantum Secure and Sensing Networks (IQSN). It also plans to expand its quantum-safe technology stack into quantum sensing and AI, increase deployments across critical sectors, and build capabilities to address demand for quantum-safe migration globally.

QNu Labs said its patented, certified and military-grade products and solutions are deployed by clients globally to secure critical infrastructure. The company plans to expand these deployments as demand for quantum-safe security solutions grows.

Startups in this space are developing infrastructure and platform layers based on technologies such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG), Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and cryptographic key management. These technologies allow organisations to upgrade their security architecture while maintaining existing systems.

Startups working across quantum technologies include QpiAI, Dimira Technologies, PRENISHQ, QuPrayog, Quanastra and Quan2D Technologies.
