THE ULTIMATE LUXURY IS PEACE: How Pilgrimages is Elevating Spiritual Travel
- ByStartupStory | May 27, 2026
From airport arrivals to temple aartis, at Pilgrimages every journey is thoughtfully designed with intention, depth, and seamless care.
India has always been a land of seekers. Long before luxury hotels or curated itineraries existed, hundreds of millions of people were already crossing rivers, climbing mountains, and standing in hours-long queues not for a holiday, but for something far older. Spiritual travel accounts for nearly 60% of all travel within India. It is one of the largest, most emotionally charged travel categories in the world.
And yet, for most travellers, it still feels like an ordeal.
Overcrowded corridors. Rushed darshans. No context about the significance of the places people have journeyed thousands of kilometers to reach. The sacred, experienced through chaos, rarely lands the way it should. Most travelers come back spiritually unfulfilled not because the destinations failed them, but because no one built the experience around them.
That is the problem Pilgrimages was built to solve.
Pilgrimages curates’ immersive journeys across Kashi, Ayodhya, the Jyotirlinga circuits, Char Dham, South Indian temple trails, and the Ramayana Trail in Sri Lanka at the intersection of spirituality, culture, wellness, and premium hospitality. And many more are rare experiences are in planning.
The idea was personal before it was professional. Manesha Pawar, Co-Founder/CEO, spent three decades in corporate world as Kuwait Airways cabin crew to Business Head at IKEA South Asia before her own spiritual journey revealed the gap. Families wouldn’t even attempt these pilgrimages. “Where will I put my shoes? Will I find the right pundit?” The hesitation was never about faith. It was about friction.
That friction became the founding insight.
Jasmeet Pal Singh, Co-Founder/COO and an IIM Trichy alumnus, brings 25 years of experiential strategy and brand leadership to the one travel category that needed it most. At Pilgrimages, that expertise translates into something deceptively simple making the complex feel invisible.
Sanjay Pawar, Co-Founder/Chief of Experiences is a prominent name in the culinary world. He is also the grandson of Bollywood legend Lalita Pawar, co-founded Wizcraft one of India’s most iconic event companies before bringing that same creative instinct to Pilgrimages. He curates the soul of every experience- culture, food, ritual, sacred tradition.
A Pilgrimages journey is built around the traveler’s spiritual intent special darshans, guided storytelling inside sacred spaces, meditation within the mandirs, sound healing, temple food traditions, and cultural encounters with local artisans. Dedicated vehicles, experienced guides, rituals personalized to what each traveler came to feel.
“What we realized was that people already want to travel spiritually the demand has always been there,” says Manesha. “But the experience around it often feels overwhelming instead of transformative. We wanted to create journeys where people feel guided, emotionally connected, and fully present.”
That shift in framing from religious logistics to emotional experience is what makes Pilgrimages different. It is not selling darshan. It is selling depth.
Every journey is built around the traveler’s spiritual intent. Special darshans & rituals, guided storytelling inside sacred spaces, meditation within the mandirs, sound healing, temple food traditions, chanting sessions, and cultural encounters with local artisans. Dedicated vehicles, experienced guides, rituals designed around what each traveler came to feel. Nothing is accidental. Nothing is rushed. Every detail exists to create one thing presence.
The company currently runs fully bespoke journeys for families, HNIs, businesses, and private groups each one designed from scratch around who is travelling and why. Very soon, Pilgrimages will also launch intimate fixed-departure experiences for small curated groups of 15 to 20 travelers, brought together not by a departure date but by shared spiritual intent. Built around Luxury stays, seamless logistics, high-touch hospitality, and the kind of cultural immersion that stays with you long after you return home.
And honestly the timings couldn’t be sharper. Post-COVID India is witnessing one of the largest spiritual tourism movements in recent history Ayodhya, Kashi, Kedarnath, Ujjain footfall records are breaking every year. But numbers only tell half the story.
Younger travelers are approaching spirituality differently now, not just as religion, but as reflection, wellness, and cultural rediscovery. The lines between sacred travel and intentional living are dissolving fast, and an entire generation is looking for journeys that feel as meaningful as the destinations themselves.
Pilgrimages are building directly for that moment.
Because peace was never waiting at the end of the journey.
Pilgrimages figured out it was always in how you travel there.
