Databricks expands India team as AI demand rises


Databricks is expanding hiring and has launched an R&D center in Bengaluru as enterprise demand in India accelerates, a senior executive told the Economic Times.

The India team has nearly 1,000 employees and plans aggressive hiring across R&D and go-to-market roles.

Zutshi told ET the India business has seen close to triple-digit growth and the firm has already begun deploying part of the US$250 million it committed to India, including the Bengaluru R&D center focused.

Databricks was last valued at US$134 billion and raised US$7 billion earlier this year.

The company competes with Snowflake and lists clients in India including Swiggy, Cred, and Freshworks.
