India’s omnichannel eyewear giant Lenskart is gearing up to launch its first fully AI-powered smart glasses line, targeted for a commercial debut by the March 2026 quarter. The device, internally branded as “B by Lenskart,” is being positioned as everyday eyewear that combines prescription use with powerful on-device intelligence and hands‑free interactions.
Built on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform and paired with an AI assistant based on Google’s Gemini family, the smart glasses are expected to support natural voice conversations, real‑time information queries, health and wellness insights, and on‑the‑go assistance. Lenskart is also working on deep integrations for UPI payments, live translation, object recognition, and a Sony-powered camera module for capturing photos and short videos without reaching for a phone.
Ahead of launch, the company has opened access to Indian developers to start building dedicated apps and integrations across categories such as food delivery, entertainment, navigation, productivity, and fitness. By the time the product goes on sale, Lenskart aims to offer a rich app ecosystem that makes the glasses useful beyond simple notifications or audio playback. The company has indicated that the hardware has been designed and engineered in India for global markets, with plans to eventually sell the device outside the country as well.
Weighing around 40 grams, the smart glasses are expected to be noticeably lighter than many existing smart eyewear options, making them more comfortable for all‑day wear. For Lenskart, the launch marks a strategic shift from being primarily a spectacle and contact lens retailer to becoming a consumer tech and “vision‑tech” brand. With this move, it will compete more directly with global players experimenting with AR and AI eyewear, while leveraging its dense retail network, brand recall, and India‑first pricing to drive early adoption.
