BharatPe names ex-Paytm exec Ajit Kumar as new CTO

Fintech leader BharatPe has appointed Ajit Kumar as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective October 23, 2025. This strategic leadership hire comes as BharatPe aims to accelerate innovation and scalability across its payments and lending technology platforms.
Proven Leader with Deep Fintech Experience
Ajit Kumar joins BharatPe with over 19 years of technology leadership experience, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Paytm. There, he played a pivotal role in building highly scalable fintech infrastructure supporting one of India’s largest digital payments ecosystems.
Prior to Paytm, Ajit held senior technology leadership roles at leading companies including Snapdeal (Shopo), Times Internet, and SAP Labs, where he contributed to key enterprise systems like SAP HANA and NetWeaver.
Driving BharatPe’s Technology and Innovation Agenda
In his new role, Ajit Kumar will spearhead BharatPe’s technology strategy, focusing on product excellence, platform scalability, and operational reliability. His leadership is expected to enhance BharatPe’s core offerings encompassing UPI payments, bill payments, lending, and merchant solutions.

Ajit Kumar takes over from Pankaj Goel, who exited the CTO role earlier this year in May. BharatPe’s rapid growth trajectory and expanding product suite require robust technological foundations—a challenge Ajit is well-equipped to address.
