Amazon Pledges $80 Billion in Exports from India by 2030

E-commerce giant Amazon has committed to enabling $80 billion in cumulative exports from India by 2030, marking an ambitious scale-up from its previous target of $20 billion by 2025. This new vision was announced at Amazon’s annual ‘Smbhav Summit’ by Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President, Emerging Markets, Amazon.

Agarwal expressed Amazon’s enthusiasm about the potential for Indian small businesses, D2C brands, and other stakeholders to expand their reach globally. He said, “Motivated by the progress that we made in driving exports out of India… we are going to advance our commitment to enable $80 billion in exports by 2030.”

Amazon has been working closely with the Indian government, small businesses, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands to achieve this ambitious goal. The company’s Global Selling program, which started in 2015, has already seen over 150,000 registered sellers from more than 200 cities across India. By the end of 2024, the program is expected to surpass $20 billion in cumulative exports from India.

Samir Kumar, Country Manager for Amazon India, highlighted the role of Amazon’s Global Selling program in driving exports. “This significant milestone will be driven by a combination of enabling exports through Amazon’s Global Selling program for Indian MSMEs, manufacturers and D2C startups as well as sourcing Made-in-India products to be sold on Amazon’s global marketplaces,” Kumar added.
