Wint Wealth, the Bengaluru-based online bond platform, has achieved a significant milestone by receiving the Online Bonds Platform Provider (OBPP) license from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the securities markets regulator.
As per the regulations set forth by SEBI, online bond platforms selling listed debt securities are required to acquire a certificate of registration as a stockbroker in the wholesale debt segment under the SEBI (Stockbrokers) Regulations to function as an OBPP. Wint Wealth obtained the broker license on July 13 and subsequently secured the OBPP license on July 25.
The SEBI regulations empower OBPPs to offer various listed debt securities, municipal debt securities, and securitized debt instruments, including those proposed to be listed through public offerings. Furthermore, listed government securities, state development loans, treasury bills, and sovereign gold bonds are also among the offerings.
Kulkarni further added, “The regulation will protect retail investors and provide authenticity to online bonds platforms that are serious about investor protection”
The SEBI regulations aim to safeguard retail investors and reinforce transparency and accountability in the online bond platform industry. Wint Wealth’s commitment to investor protection aligns perfectly with the SEBI’s vision of ensuring a secure and reliable investment environment.
Wint Wealth offers a user-friendly platform that enables investors to access listed bonds, including non-banking finance companies bonds and sovereign gold bonds. As the platform continues to evolve, Wint Wealth is dedicated to introducing innovative fixed-income products and further enhancing the overall investment experience.
