Employees hired during pandemic have much lower productivity: Salesforce CEO
- ByStartupStory | December 19, 2022
Marc Benioff, co-chief executive officer of Salesforce.com Inc., speaks during a Bloomberg Television interview at the 2022 Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. He came forward with a view that the manpower hired during the pandemic have not been as productive as previous generations of workers.
Beinoff asked for suggestions on increasing productivity among the staff, and especially among new hires, he wrote “How do we increase the productivity of our employees at salesforce? New employees (hired during the pandemic in 2021 & 2022) are especially facing much lower productivity. Is this a reflection of our office policy?”.

He went on to ask for more feedback on company culture, adding “Are we not building tribal knowledge with new employees without office culture? Are our managers not directly addressing productivity with their teams? Is coming as a new employee to salesforce too overwhelming? Asking for a friend.”
This comment came on the surface this Friday shortly after Salesforce laid off hundreds of employees back in November. This bid’s sole purpose was to improve profitability and growth after the company faces slow revenue generation. Last month, the company said co-CEO Bret Taylor will step down from his post in January. To add, Last year, when Salesforce acquired Slack, it was Benioff who said that people can work very effectively from their homes. The company said it would be left to the teams to decide how much time they would work in office.
