Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, now have competition. Jio intends to replace Meta’s reels feature with a rival. The telco behemoth is now gaining Platform, an app that offers short videos in India. This application is anticipated to function just as Facebook and Instagram’s reels do.
According to a press release, Jio Platforms Limited, Creativeland Asia, and Rolling Stones India have joined forces to introduce “Platform,” a short video app for entertainers. The app is targeted at “star entertainers, with an ecosystem built for organic growth and steady monetisation,” according to the press release.
Creators, actresses, musicians, dancers, comedians, fashion designers, and everyone else aspiring to be a cultural influencer will be the focus of the Platform app.
The communication we received from the three companies stated, “Platform is powered by the technology infrastructure of Jio Platforms Limited, the force behind platforms across Jio media, Entertainment and Digital Apps and the force behind the meteoric rise of India’s leading telecom operator ‘Jio’.”

According to reports, the app’s initial 100 users will be invited to join. On their profiles, they will receive a golden ticket for verification. Through referral programs, these original members will additionally invite new artist members to join.
Notably, these new members will be the first to see the newest Platform features before anybody else. The three businesses also want to launch their endeavour in different industries. According to sources, this software will launch in January of next year and testing of the beta version has already begun.
Instead of the expensive algorithms utilised by Meta, it’s likely that the next Platform app will allow creators to flourish through ranks and reputation naturally. The talent of the creators will eventually be monetized, providing a steady source of income for them.
Silver, blue, and red tick verifications will indicate the development of content authors. The vectors that have an impact on these coloured verifications are actually fanbase expansion and content consumption. More specifically, all creators will have access to a “Book Now” button on the app. Through this, users and organisers will be able to communicate with the creators and schedule them for projects, events, and more.
