iVOOMi Energy to invest Rs 200 Cr in Pune-based EV manufacturing unit


iVOOMi Energy, an electric two-wheeler startup from Maharashtra has declared its intentions to invest Rs 200 crore to expand its R&D and establish a new production plant in Pune.

From the current capacity of 1.8 lakh units, the manufacturing facility, which is expected to be operational by March 2023, would expand the company’s production capacity by more than 60,000 units yearly, totalling a total of 2.4 lakh units per year. According to iVOOMi Energy, the new manufacturing facility will employ more than 2,000 people and provide jobs for locals.

Ashwin Bhandari, co-founder of iVOOMi Energy said, “There is a lot of room for innovation and improvement in the (electric vehicle) field, and iVOOMi Energy is constantly working to become a leader in the sector. To achieve considerable development by the conclusion of this fiscal year, we will therefore concentrate on increasing R&D and company expansion.”

In India, iVOOMi Energy now sells the iVOOMi City, City-1, Jeet, Jeet Pro, and S1 electric scooters. The business will shortly introduce its scooters, the i1 and Jeet X. The Jeet and Jeet Pro scooters each include a swappable 1.5kW and 2kW battery pack. The company already has a working R&D facility in Pune, Maharashtra, and its production facilities in Ahmednagar, Pune, and Noida can produce 500 electric scooters every day.
