He characterized DBT’s unique gateway as a step toward making science and scientific research easier as well as making start-ups easier in India. Biotechnology has quickly developed as an educational and livelihood option for Indian youth, according to the Minister. He also stated that the country now has over 2,700 biotech start-ups and over 2,500 biotech enterprises in operation.
Dr. Jitendra Singh described the portal’s launch as a whole-of-government approach in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision, saying that it will enhance interdepartmental synergies and carry accountability, transparency, and efficacy to the functioning of agencies that regulate various aspects of biological research and issue permits.
