The majority of upGrad’s IT infrastructure is now hosted on Amazon Web Services.


To quickly scale its online learning experience, edtech firm upGrad has shifted most of its information technology infrastructure to Amazon Web Services.According to AWS, the Ronnie Screwvala-led startup was able to double its user base to two million in eight months and treble the amount of time spent on its platform.

“Going all-in on AWS allows upGrad to meet the rapid growth of their learner base as it scales to over 100 countries, as well as deliver a safe and customised online experience to learners accessing upGrad for curriculum, mentorship, and career services2.” According to Sunil PP, lead-education, space, and nonprofits at Amazon Internet Services Pvt. Ltd.,

AWS India and South Asia, upGrad analyses learners’ usage habits, preferences, personal information, coursework, job applications, and career progression using Amazon Redshift, a cloud data warehouse service. It also intends to use AWS Marketplace to acquire software-as-a-service solutions for the corporation and its subsidiaries.

In a statement, Rohit Dhar, president-product at upGrad, stated, “AWS is critical to our capacity to onboard learners, experiment and iterate, and provide the greatest possible learning experience to help people accelerate their careers.” “As the demand for high-quality online learning content develops, we can simply scale our workloads on AWS to deliver rich, uninterrupted instructional content safely and securely, even during peak periods.”
