Yu FoodLabs raises $1M in pre-Series A funding


Consumer foods brand Yu FoodLabs recently raised $1 million in its pre-Series A round from a variety of investors. The round saw participation from Manish Choksi and Varun Vakil (Asian Paints), the Lalvani family, Nikhil Srivastava (PAG private equity), and Vishal Sampat (Convonix), among others.

The Delhi-based startup plans to use the capital raised to scale its production capacity to over 5 lakh meal bowls in a month and expand its area of distributions.

“We have combined the most advanced food science technology with culinary arts to re-imagine the future of packaged foods. Our Instant Meal Bowls are packed with gourmet flavours and nutrients while using ZERO preservatives or artificial ingredients,” stated Yu FoodLabs co-founder Bharat Bhalla.

Yu FoodLabs produces preservative-free meal bowls priced in the range of Rs. 75-100. They are available in over 100 retail outlets across Delhi-NCR. 

Co-founder Varun Kapur said, “We have partnered with high pedigree investors with backgrounds in consumer brands, private equity, hospitality, technology and digital marketing. We will use the funds to increase our production capacity to over 5 lac meal bowls per month while expanding our distribution network to key markets across India.”
