Several concrete plans have been put in motion for driving the clean energy transition in the power sector in India and the United Kingdom. This topic was discussed during the third Ministerial Energy Dialogue between the UK and India.
“Both sides will set in motion concrete action plans for driving clean energy transition in the power sector,” a power ministry statement said.
India-UK Energy for Growth Partnership Ministerial Energy Dialogue was co-chaired by Union Minister RK Singh from the Indian side and by Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from the UK side.
A major topic of discussion in the dialogue was energy transition and the energy ministers spoke in detail about the ongoing energy transition activities in their respective countries, with a focus on renewables, such as solar, offshore wind, storage, electric vehicles (EVs) and alternative fuels, the statement added.
Both sides of the discussion highlighted the importance of international cooperation in ensuring access to affordable and sustainable energy for the world while setting in motion concrete action plans for advancing clean energy transition in the power sector.
Among the ambitious targets listed by the Union Power Minister include green hydrogen, storage, offshore wind, and the electricity market.
Additionally, he hoped that the Prime Minister’s One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG) initiative would be a promising alternative to support the integration of renewable energy in the grid.
