Winner of Air India Bid likely to be announced tomorrow

On Friday, the Centre is expected to announce the name of the winning bidder for Air India. SpiceJet’s Chairman Ajay Singh in his individual capacity and the Tata Group are the two bidders. Tata Group is expected to regain control of the airline it started and ran before it was nationalized.

According to a panel of Secretaries led by the Cabinet Secretary, a Ministerial Group headed by Home Minister Amit Shah screened the bids.

When the winner is announced, the winning entity will sign the share-purchase agreement within 15 days, and the transfer process will begin immediately.

On two occasions earlier this week, representatives of the two bidders met to discuss the share-purchase agreement, which helps them plan funding.
