New foldable display technology, introduced by LG

One of the LG companies, LG Chem group has developed a new foldable display material technology using new materials that may take smartphones to the next level in the future. This ‘Real Folding Window’ is described as hard and durable as glass but is still flexible to be folded as plastic. It is made up of specially developed coatings similar to tempered glass which is thin but can prevent cracks. It can also provide optimized solutions for foldable smartphones like making improvements to common issues such as fold impressions usually found on the connecting part of the display.
This new technology from LG hopes to fix many of the problems that currently affect foldable technology used by Samsung such as fold impressions usually found on the connecting part of the display, better mechanical properties, and improved heat-resistance.

The firm says that it can be folded more than 200,000 times before it begins to show signs of wear and you could fold the display a hundred times a day for five years and still not come close to reaching that figure.
LG is progressing ahead in the foldable material industry, in the hopes of supplying its screens to smartphone manufacturers such as Google, Apple, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and others.
Eventually, all of the major smartphone manufacturers will launch devices with foldable displays. While Samsung, with its Galaxy Fold 3 and Galaxy Flip 2, has raced into the market, it appears that the other phone makers are taking their time to let the technology evolve.
