Union Minister Dr.Jitendra Singh highlights the importance of Agri-tech Start-ups for India’s future economy

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State For Science and Technology quoted that Agri-tech startups are critical to India’s future economy. Minister speaking at a Conclave-cum-Exhibition on Agri-Tech and Food-Tech here, said that a new wave of Agri-tech Startups has emerged in India in the last few years as a result of the enabling policy environment created by the Modi government to address problems in Indian agriculture such as supply chain management, outdated equipment, inadequate infrastructure, and farmers’ inability to access a wider range of markets with ease.
Singh, expressed his delight that entrepreneurs are leaving positions in the IT industry and multinational corporations to create their enterprises, and that these new professionals are realising that agriculture is one of the only safe and successful businesses. He also mentioned that Kisan Drones are now being encouraged in the country for crop evaluation, digitization of land data, pesticide spraying, and fertiliZer spraying. Startups that provide solutions like water pumping solar-powered cold storage, biogas plants, seed drill fencing, vertical farming, weather prediction, and spraying equipment would help farmers earn more money.

Minister Mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled 100 Made in India agricultural drones around the country, which carried out farm tasks in unique simultaneous flights, according to the minister.
Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that given the sheer quantity of the people involved in agriculture, India has huge potential for technological adoption.
