Hyderabad-based EV start-up, PURE EV, has initiated the recall of 2000 EVs from the batch of the models ETrance Plus and EPluto 7G.
This decision has come against the backdrop of the rising number of unabated deadly fires in electronic two-wheelers that has shaken up the entire EV industry. The government has also asked the EV companies to take advance action to recall the defective batch of vehicles. Union Road, Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari in a tweet thread highlighted the government’s stance.
From Ola Electric to Okinawa Autotech, several EV makers are under the scanner for reported fires in their e-scooters.
There were a string of 5 incidents of fire in a PURE EV scooter.

Earlier, Gadkari had stated that they had formed an Expert committee to enquire into these incidents and then take remedial steps. Any company that is found negligent in the quality of their EVs, will have to pay a heavy penalty and an order will be issued in which there will be a recall of all the defective vehicles.
Founded in 2016 by Nishant Dongari and Rohit Vadera, PURE EV is one of the leading EV2W brands in India and has dominance in exports to South Asian countries like Bhutan and Nepal.
