SoftBank-backed Meesho is scaling its use of artificial intelligence across operations, with over 70% of its code now generated using AI tools. As tech companies look to improve efficiency and move faster, Meesho’s latest shareholder letter shows how AI is being used across its core functions.
CEO Vidit Aatrey said AI is now being applied across coding, testing, reviews, and deployment, helping reduce turnaround time for building products. The company added that platform experiments in Q4 FY26 doubled compared to last year, indicating faster iteration cycles.
On the consumer side, Meesho said over 75% of orders on the platform come through AI-led personalized feeds rather than search. The firm added that these improvements led to around a 15% increase in conversion and reduced the time for new seller listings to gain traction by about 27%.
The company is also testing voice-based commerce through its assistant, Vaani. Within the first month, the feature saw about 1.5 million users, with around 22% higher conversion among adopters. Nearly 79% of users said voice made shopping easier, particularly for those more comfortable with regional languages.
At the infrastructure level, Meesho said its in-house ML stack operates at around 60–70% lower cost than comparable cloud services, while processing over 6.4 trillion inferences at peak scale. It is also applying AI in logistics, where its Geo-India model has improved geocoding accuracy by about 20 percentage points.
Meesho had 264 million annual users and 2.67 billion orders in FY26, with most users coming from smaller cities. It reported a loss of Rs 1,357 crore, largely due to continued spending on new user acquisition.
