Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who is currently in the UK for the AI Safety Summit, had an unexpected encounter with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. During their meeting, Musk revealed an interesting connection – his son, born to tech venture capitalist Shivon Zilis, shares the middle name “Chandrasekhar,” in honor of Nobel laureate Professor Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.

Chandrasekhar, an Indian astrophysicist, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his groundbreaking theoretical work on the physical processes that impact the structure and evolution of stars. Rajeev Chandrasekhar shared this intriguing connection on social media, posting a photo with Musk at the AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park, UK.

Musk confirmed this connection and mentioned that they affectionately call their son “Sekhar” for short, underscoring the significance of honoring Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar’s legacy. This encounter was a unique and unexpected discovery during the AI Safety Summit.

Chandrasekhar, representing India at the event, participated in various meetings during the summit. He discussed the importance of governments collaborating on frameworks for internet safety and trust, emphasizing that decisions regarding the future of technology should not be solely in the hands of big tech companies.

With reference to his meeting with Husic, he said, “Discussed about how Indian diaspora is significantly adding to the talent pool of Australia and highlighted the potential of India-Australia partnership in shaping the future of technology,”

On the first day of the summit, Chandrasekhar presented India’s vision for innovative technology as a driving force for economic growth, emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence in advancing the digital economy.
