- ByStartupStory | August 3, 2026
In a major initiative to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare innovation ecosystem, the Centre for Medical Innovation (CMI), Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, in collaboration with the MedTech Centre of Excellence (CoE), STPI, will launch the Uttar Pradesh Startup Clinic—a first-of-its-kind platform designed to prepare healthcare startups for clinical validation, regulatory approvals, investment readiness, and commercialization.
The programme is being organised under the StartInUP Initiative of the Department of IT & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh, under the guidance of Shri Alok Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of IT & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
₹1,000 Crore Healthcare Investment Platform Comes to Uttar Pradesh
The inaugural Startup Clinic will feature Alkemi Growth Capital, a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) and one of India’s leading healthcare-focused investment firms. Alkemi manages an approximately ₹1,000 crore healthcare investment platform and focuses on investing in high-growth companies across Healthcare, MedTech, HealthTech, Medical Devices, Diagnostics, Biotechnology, AI, Life Sciences, and Digital Health.
As a late-stage healthcare investor, Alkemi typically invests ₹20 crore to ₹25 crore in companies that have demonstrated strong product-market fit and are ready for scale. Through the Uttar Pradesh Startup Clinic, founders will interact directly with Alkemi’s investment team to understand what institutional investors look for, including clinical validation, regulatory preparedness, governance, commercial traction, and investment readiness.
The objective of the Startup Clinic is to build a strong pipeline of investment-ready startups from Uttar Pradesh, enabling them to raise institutional capital and scale nationally and globally.
Regulatory and Clinical Support Under One Roof
The event will also feature the GIMS Regulatory Clinic, supported by BIRAC, with experts from CDSCO and RAPA (Regulatory Affairs Professionals Association) providing one-to-one guidance on regulatory strategy, quality management systems, product approvals, clinical validation, and commercialization pathways.
Why GIMS?
GIMS has rapidly emerged as one of India’s leading public healthcare innovation ecosystems.
The institute hosts Uttar Pradesh’s first public medical college-based healthcare incubator, has been selected to establish the state’s first BIRAC BioNEST at a government medical college, is a partner in the Stanford Biodesign Programme, and houses an ICMR INTENT Clinical Trial Centre, providing startups with access to clinical research and clinical trial services.
Through its Startup OPD (Innovation Clinic), startups work directly with clinicians to identify unmet clinical needs, validate technologies, improve prototypes, and prepare products for adoption in healthcare settings.
This unique ecosystem integrates clinical mentoring, hospital access, regulatory support, clinical trials, incubation, and investor connect, making GIMS one of the few government medical institutions in India offering comprehensive support for healthcare innovators.

The Uttar Pradesh Startup Clinic invites startups working in Healthcare, MedTech, HealthTech, Biotechnology, AI, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Diagnostics, and DeepTech.
Applications are invited from:
