Tata-backed Cure.fit launched a gender-neutral parental leave scheme

Cure.fit has launched a gender-neutral parental leave scheme for its staff. This is a 6-month update to the existing maternity and paternity policy, and it would broaden the program to include non-binary parents. Employees who choose to become parents through natural birth, surrogacy, or adoption will now be entitled to parental leave, regardless of gender.

Furthermore, if the employee wishes to get project updates, they have scheduled for monthly check-ins with the team and project participants. When the employee returns, they can opt to continue working on the prior project or be assigned to other tasks.

“The leave program from Cure.fit strikingly differs in terms of equalizing the benefits for all parents. This break is a paid leave of 6 months and is followed up with flexible working models for those who’d like to opt for a longer break,” said the company in a statement.

The Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act of 2017 mandates a 26-week maternity leave. If a woman adopts a child under the age of three months, she is entitled to a 12-week vacation. Employees in the central government can take up to 15 days of paternity leave, but there is no specific regulation in place for employees in the private sector. According to Cure.fit, their policy is unique in that it equalizes advantages for all parents. This break is a 6-month paid absence that is followed by flexible working options for people who choose to take a longer break.

Ankit Gupta, Head of Product & Engineering at the organization said, “In an era, where we’re collectively on a journey to remove labels and enable all individuals to discover their best selves and be better every day, this program organically seemed like the right thing to do. The program empowers our employees to design a life best suited to their aspirations and eliminates bias.”
