Pepperfry acqui-hires Rahul Kapuria’s Brandmakerr, appoints founder as VP


The commercial interior solutions provider Brandmakerr has been acquired by the furniture marketplace Pepperfry for an unknown value. Rahul Kapuria, the founder of Brandmakerr, will work as a vice president for Pepperfry under the terms of the agreement.

With this agreement, Pepperfry will enter the retail, banking, and HORECA (hotel, restaurant, and café) sectors for commercial fit-out projects. Kapuria will be in charge of advancing business strategies for civil, commercial, and turnkey solutions.

Since 2018, Pepperfry has been working to become profitable, and in 2019–20, it will be concentrating on reducing expenses and cutting losses.

Ashish Shah, co-founder and chief operating officer, Pepperfry said that 

“Rahul comes with an experience of 25 years and over the past eight years. His company Brandmakerr has built a strong customer franchise in the design and build and fit-out space for retail and F&B sectors. This partnership with Brandmakerr opens an entirely new area of business for Pepperfry.

It is worth noting that Projects for clients of Brandmakerr have started to move to Pepperfry. Associating with major businesses in the retail, food and beverage, airports, and banking sectors is the company’s present strategy.

Furthermore,In order to secure money for a pre-listing investment round by the end of the year, Pepperfry intends to file for an initial public offering (IPO) in the first half of 2022.

In a developing online furniture sector, Pepperfry faces competition from both horizontal and vertical e-tailers, including Amazon India and Flipkart, both of whom have been expanding their furniture selections.
