Paytm Parent Company Appoints Bhavesh Gupta as President and COO

Bhavesh Gupta, the former CEO of Paytm’s lending vertical, has been appointed as the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of One97 Communications Limited, the parent company of fintech leader Paytm.
In his new role as President and COO of One97 Communications Limited, Bhavesh Gupta will oversee and spearhead various verticals such as lending, insurance, and online/offline payments. He will play a crucial role in driving important initiatives related to user growth, operational risk management, fraud prevention, and compliance.
Bhavesh Gupta brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated his ability to develop businesses in various sectors, including payments, technology, analytics platforms, retail loans, digital lending, SME banking, and retail banking, among others.
Bhavesh Gupta assumed the position of CEO of Paytm lending in 2020, following a successful tenure in multiple leadership positions. Previously, he served as the CEO of Clix Capital (formerly GE Capital) and held the position of Head of SME and Business Banking at IDFC Bank. Gupta’s professional journey also includes various roles at ICICI Bank, where he made valuable contributions.
Bhavesh Gupta, a Delhi University graduate with an MBA from the Institute of Management Studies in Indore, will maintain reporting lines to Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the Managing Director and CEO of One97 Communications Limited, according to a statement from Paytm. In addition to his new role as President and COO, Gupta was previously entrusted with the task of expanding Paytm’s offline transactions business. The company has already facilitated loan disbursements exceeding Rs 12,500 crore through its platform and has established partnerships with seven lending institutions, including Aditya Birla Capital.
