Open English acquires India’s mobile English teaching and learning platform Enguru

Open English, the biggest English-learning platform in Latin America and the US Hispanic Market, announced the acquisition of Enguru, India’s leading mobile language-learning platform.

Due to their 24×7 live sessions taught by native speakers, Open English currently has a large following in Latin America, educating around 1.5 million students. After expanding into Spain and Turkey, Open English has now moved into India.

India has a big number of English language learners due to the presence of a diverse range of dialects. Furthermore, India is estimated to reach 900 million internet users by 2025, expanding the prospects in the EdTech sector, which is expected to reach $10.4 billion by the same year.

“Through its blend of live interactive classes, self-paced lessons, and gamified learning activities, we are certain that enguru’s mobile-first learning platform offers the finest solution for Indian consumers,” stated Andrés Moreno, founder, chairman, and CEO of Open English. “Their emphasis on live lessons as the focal point of the student experience aligns nicely with Open English’s goal and opinion that live education is the most effective and efficient way for students to learn English.”

Enguru, on the other hand, will continue to operate under the same name, gaining the benefits of both organisations and so providing a superior, combined outcome for its users.
