ONDC Unveils ‘Build for Bharat’ Initiative to Drive Impactful Digital Commerce Solutions

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has joined forces with Google Cloud India, Antler in India, Paytm, Protean, and Startup India to introduce the ‘Build for Bharat’ initiative. This collaborative effort aims to address diverse challenges in the digital commerce sector, fostering industry innovation to create practical solutions. With an expected participation of over 200,000 individuals representing startups, companies, and colleges, ‘Build for Bharat’ seeks to leverage India’s technological and entrepreneurial potential.
The initiative, organized on a national scale across more than 50 cities, adopts a participative and ecosystem-driven framework. It features the involvement of top experts, leaders, venture capitalists, and incubators. To kick-start the initiative, an event on December 4 unveiled problem statements for participants, extending invitations for registrations. The initiative encompasses Retail, Mobility, F&B, Financial Services, and Logistics sectors, with a focus on delivering three distinct outcomes.
The first category, ‘NextGen Ventures,’ is designed to catalyze venture creation on ONDC. Open to aspiring founders exploring multiple ideas or early-stage founder teams working on an idea, this track provides a pathway to raising capital, launching, scaling companies, and incubating new businesses. The second category focuses on Scalable solutions, inviting participation from organizations or individuals, including students, with a focus on solving friction points faced by Network Participants.
The third category, ‘Foundation solutions,’ is exclusively for college students (18+) to identify proof of concept for the friction points faced by NPs. Winners in the ‘NextGen Ventures’ category will benefit from exclusive opportunities from Antler in India, mentorship from industry stalwarts, and a chance to avail equity-free grants of up to INR 5 Crores. The winning teams also gain the opportunity to join Antler Residency, opening avenues for potential VC funding.
Google India will provide shortlisted teams with Cloud credits along with valuable tech guidance. ‘Build for Bharat’ stands as a collaborative effort to drive innovation and solutions in digital commerce, leveraging the collective expertise and creativity of participants across the nation.
