LowCarbon Earth 2023: Climate Tech Accelerator Targets Startups Fighting Climate Change
- ByStartupStory | July 8, 2023
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Massive Earth Foundation (MEF) have joined hands to launch LowCarbon.Earth (LCE) 2023. It is an innovative climate tech accelerator dedicated to nurturing startups addressing climate change and pollution challenges.
According to a joint press release, the accelerator is actively seeking visionary founders who are committed to combating the climate crisis and reducing pollution through their groundbreaking ideas and solutions.
This program offers early-stage entrepreneurs access to resources that are typically unavailable, including internal expertise, strategic relationships, financial support, and mentorship. By connecting startups with established firms already involved in climate change initiatives, the program aims to create an ecosystem that fosters a deep understanding of the climate tech market and its trends, while providing significant investment and growth opportunities. By identifying the specific needs and requirements of each business, the program aims to equip startups with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the market.
LowCarbon.Earth will operate using a hybrid model, conducting virtual sessions over the course of three months, culminating in an in-person bootcamp at COP28 in the UAE. During the three-month virtual accelerator program, selected startups will benefit from invaluable mentorship and guidance from industry experts, gain access to funding opportunities, and build vital networks within the climate tech ecosystem. The program will consist of six rigorous sessions that offer practical guidance and insights to empower startups on their journey.
In a related effort, Zerodha established Rainmatter Foundation in 2021 as a non-profit organization aimed at supporting grassroots individuals, organizations, and companies working on climate change-related problems, with a particular focus on afforestation, ecological restoration, and livelihood development.
The launch of LowCarbon.Earth signifies a significant step forward in advancing climate tech innovation and propelling the fight against climate change. Through this accelerator, promising startups will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the environment while receiving the necessary support to thrive in the rapidly evolving climate tech landscape.
