The “Secure with Cloud” initiative, which was unveiled on Thursday by Google Cloud and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), aims to demystify cloud security and make cloud deployment and adoption in India easier for both the public and commercial sectors. With this new initiative, DSCI and Google Cloud will work to create a platform that will enhance communication between the government, regulators, CIOs, CISOs, CSPs, Cloud MSPs, Start-ups, Cloud security enterprises and service providers, and SaaS Players, among other stakeholders in the cloud ecosystem. The Secure with Cloud initiative will also present frameworks and industry best practices for the privacy and security of startup and mobile app ecosystems. In order to show how cloud platforms and cloud-enabled products are designed, are secure by default, and can be used effectively to secure operations, it will also engage with public sector organizations across a variety of verticals.

“We are thrilled to announce the ‘Secure with Cloud’ initiative supported by Google Cloud. This will create the much-needed space for enabling security-led deliberations and serve as a platform to host successful cloud adoption journeys for embracing cloud transformation. We are looking at this initiative as an industry-driven intervention which will bring together the stakeholders from across the cloud ecosystem and bolster the agenda of security in the cloud paradigm by promoting the adoption of best practices,” said Vinayak Godse, CEO at DSCI.
According to Google Cloud, the program would also produce useful insights and develop a story with evidence points, targeted roundtables, and case studies. The Office of the CISO at Google Cloud’s Mark Johnston, who oversees security, said, “At Google Cloud, we are committed to helping our customers navigate securely as they embark on their cloud journeys. The initiative with DSCI is one step towards unraveling the power and flexibility of the cloud and its many benefits to enterprises of all sizes.”
A diverse advisory committee that includes leaders from a range of sectors, including technology services, consulting, cloud service providers, eCommerce, and digital payments, supports the initiative and will provide additional guidance and assistance in achieving the objectives.
“Technology providers have enhanced their solution capabilities to develop a trusted environment that enables safe and secure adoption of digital technologies. The trusted theme will in the near future go beyond security and privacy, with ethics playing a significant role,” the advisory committee member Atul Gupta, Partner and Head of Digital Trust and Cyber at KPMG in India, stated.
