super.money enters commerce with splitStore

super. money has taken a bigger step beyond payments with the launch of splitStore, an in-app commerce product that lets users buy products in interest-free instalments. The move shows that the Flipkart-backed fintech is no longer positioning itself only as a UPI app, but as a broader platform where payments, credit, and shopping come together in one place.

What makes this shift important is the direction it signals for the company. UPI has transformed digital payments in India, but it is still difficult to turn payments alone into a strong revenue business. By entering commerce, super.money is trying to move closer to where actual spending happens. That gives it a better chance to build a business model around transactions, lending, and merchant partnerships instead of relying only on payment activity.

splitStore is built as a closed-loop credit product, which means the instalment option is tied to purchases made on the platform rather than being an open-ended credit line. Users can shop across a wide range of categories, including electronics, fashion, appliances, furniture, and lifestyle products. The platform also features well-known brands such as Apple, Nike, Adidas, Marshall, Mokobara, and Snitch, which suggests that super.money wants splitStore to feel like a serious shopping destination rather than just a lending add-on.

The product seems especially targeted at younger and first-time credit users. That is a smart audience to focus on, because many users in this group want flexibility but do not yet have access to traditional credit cards. By offering no-interest instalments with a simple checkout flow, super.money is trying to make credit feel more accessible and less intimidating. If the experience is smooth, it could help the company build both usage and trust

This also reflects a wider trend in fintech. Companies are increasingly looking for ways to sit closer to commerce, not just payments. The logic is clear: payments are useful, but commerce creates more ways to monetise attention, spending, and credit. For super.money, splitStore is an attempt to unlock that next layer of growth by combining affordability with convenience

The challenge now will be execution. The idea is promising, but the platform will need to prove that users keep coming back and that merchants see enough value to support the model. If super. Money gets that balance right, splitStore could become an important part of its long-term business story.
