Former BharatPe CEO Ashneer Grover’s Third Unicorn Raises Seed Funding

According to a source familiar with the matter, Ashneer Grover, the former CEO of BharatPe, has secured approximately $4 million in seed funding for his new venture, Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd.

ZNL Growth Fund led the recent funding round of approximately $4 million in seed capital for Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd, a new venture founded by former BharatPe CEO Ashneer Grover. The round also included investments from more than 24 angel investors, such as Anmol Singh Jaggi, Anirudh Kedia, and Vishal Kedia. Third Unicorn’s inaugural offering is a cricket fantasy gaming platform called “Crickpe,” which is currently under development but can be seen on the company’s website.

Ashneer Grover, the founder of Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd, made a recent LinkedIn post stating that his company has been able to make waves in the market despite being bootstrapped and operating under the radar. According to Grover, Third Unicorn is disrupting the industry in its own unique way, without seeking much publicity.

Ashneer Grover, the founder of Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd, recently posted a slideshow on LinkedIn to provide a preview of his new venture. He also revealed that the company will initially have only 50 members and pledged to award a Mercedes car to employees who complete five years with Third Unicorn, stating that “gratuity is given for humiliation.”

In a recent LinkedIn post, Ashneer Grover, the founder of Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd, made it clear that the company is solely seeking investments from Indian-based investors and urged venture capitalists to abstain, saying “VCs-SheC’s, please stay away. We use only self-earned capital.”

Ashneer Grover, the founder of Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd, previously expressed his intention to create another “unicorn” and re-enter the business world in a tweet made on his 40th birthday last year. Grover, who was previously involved with BharatPe and Grofers, announced his plan to disrupt another sector, saying, “It’s time for the Third Unicorn.”

Ashneer Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, established Third Unicorn Private Limited in July of last year, with a paid-up capital of ₹10 lakh and an authorized share capital of ₹20 lakh. The new company was formed with the intention of creating a new venture that would disrupt the industry, according to Grover’s earlier statements.

Ashneer Grover, the former CEO of BharatPe, was placed on leave of absence in January of last year after an audio clip of him being aggressive towards a Kotak Mahindra Bank employee surfaced online. Following that incident, Grover and his wife were accused of financial irregularities, leading to their eventual removal from the company in March of 2022.
